Large 2° (550 x 387mm). Half-title, title with engraved vignette, engraved tailpiece, 36 plates by L. Rupp. (First five plates with creased lower outer corner, occasional small marginal tears.) Contemporary red straight-grained morocco gilt, covers with wide decorative border tooled with wide fillets and an elaborate roll, surrounding the centrally-placed ARMS OF EMPEROR FRANCIS I OF AUSTRIA, the flat spine in seven compartments, lettered in the second, the others with repeat overall tooling, g.e. (light scuffing to extremities, upper joint slightly split).
A interesting this series of engravings of measured drawings of the interior and exterior of the Duomo in Milan. The title and text call for 35 plates; the present copy has an additional plate, illustrating pilasters.
