Original cream paper-vellum boards, gilt-lettered, uncut (some slight rubbing); orange cloth slipcase. FIRST EDITION of the author's first book, COPY NUMBER 13 OF 17 NUMBERED COPIES PRINTED ON JAPAN VELLUM SIGNED BY MILLAY and in this binding. INSCRIBED BY HER opposite title-page to the musician and book-collector Efrem Zimbalist: "To Efrem Zimbalist From Edna St. Vincent Millay, Harbor Head, September 7, 1931." With Kennerley's "compliments" slip laid in. Although the limitation notice states that 15 copies were printed on Japan vellum, 17 were actually done. A very good copy of one of the great first-book rarities of modern American literature. Yost 3.
