[MINIATURE BOOK-CASE]. Gilt metal miniature book case probably made in continental Europe, early 17th century.
27 x 27 mm. Made and formed in the shape of a miniature book, with the addition of a clasp and two small metal loops, indicating that it was either worn on a chain around the neck or fixed to a rosary, all four sides decorated with VERRE EGLOMISE the upper cover showing the "Nativity," the lower cover the "Annunciation," the inside upper cover depicts sun rays and was probably holding a relic and the inside of the lower cover shows "The Man of Sorrows."
