Safavid Iran, text AH 986-987/1578-80 AD, miniatures circa 1620
Persian manuscript on cream paper, 115ff. with 19ll. of black nasta'liq within gold ruled columns, first section with illuminated opening folio, originally bifolio, now with Qur'an folio, first section dated Rabi' I 987, second section with similarly illuminated headings, final folio with colophon dated 986, with twenty one miniatures in gouache heightened with gold, circa 1620, staining and old repairs, folios loose from binding, later brown morocco binding

The type of turbans worn in some of these miniatures and a near portrait of Shah Abbas in one of them dates the miniatures to around 1620.
