Movado, the Esperanto definition for "always in motion", was founded in 1881 by the renowned watchmaker Achille Ditisheim in La Chaux-de-Fonds.
Ditisheim and his team of six employees manufactured and assembled all watches by hand. By 1899, their hard work and determination had paid off. Movado obtained six First Class Official Rating Certificates in their class, and in the following year they were awarded the Silver Medal at the Universal Exhibition in Paris.
The present watch is an excellent example of a high quality chronometer watch signed A. Ditisheim - Fabrique Movado, featuring a Neuchâtel Astronomical Observatory Rating Certificate.
