    Lot Essay

The wording on this painting It's our twenty-first picture, Anna, and it don't seem a film too much, to us, anyway refers to Spring In Park Lane, the twenty-first film Neagle and Wilcox worked on together as director and actress. Their other joint ventures are apparently also listed. Wilcox, founder of Elstree Studios, discovered Neagle and they married in 1943. Olga Lehmann was a costume designer and, according to the vendor, this painting was presented to Neagle and Wilcox in the cinema foyer at the première of Spring In Park Lane in 1948.
