PALLADIO, Andrea (1508-1580). L'Architettura... in quattro libro. Venice: Marc'Antonio Brogiollo, 1642. 2° (318 x 205mm). Engraved title, three section titles. Numerous woodcut illustrations, many full-page. Contemporary vellum gilt, covers panelled with large coronet tool added as cornerpieces to the inner panels, spine gilt (somewhat soiled, joints slightly split). Provenance: Trotter (of Mortonhall, Mid-Lothian).

Engraved frontispiece, five full-page engraved illustrations, numerous woodcut diagrams and decorations. Old speckled calf, spine gilt (spine chipped at head and foot, joints slightly split). Provenance: Cl.Th.Dupuy Parisini, 'Oratoris Regii' (red ink stamp on title and first text leaf); 2nd Marquess of Bute (Luton park armorial bookplate); together with an incomplete copy (lacking the portrait) of Pierre LE MUET's Maniere de Bastir.
