Accompanied by Patek Philippe Certificate of Origin and Extract from the Archives confirming production of the present watch in 1983 and its subsequent sale on 19 September 1983. Furthermore delivered with original fitted leather presentation box.
Only 244 examples of reference 3450 were made between 1981 and 1986, the first series featured a red leap year indicator on the dial, the second series Arabic numerals.
The particularity of the present watch is the sapphire glass snap on back opposed to the plain back found in the standard version of this model. It was made by special order of the original owner and its authenticity is confirmed in the letter from Patek Philippe Geneva dated 21 April 1994.
To the best of our knowledge, less than five examples of reference 3450, originally fitted with a glazed back, have appeared in public. It is the first time that the present watch is offered at auction.
Reference 3450 is illustrated in Patek Philippe Wristwatches by Martin Huber & Alan Banbery, second edition, p. 290, pl. 449a.
