Accompanied by an Extract from the Patek Philippe Archives confirming the date of manufacture as a wristwatch in 1909 and its subsequent sale on August 16th, 1918. To the best of our knowledge, the present watch has never before appeared at auction.
Patek Philippe's earliest wristwatches sometimes featured enamel dials. This most likely resulted from the transition of the pocket watch into the wristwatch during the early part of the 20th century. However, the use of enamel dials was discontinued in favor of more resilient metal dials, most likely due to the vulnerable position on one's wrist and resulting damages.
