Accompanied by Patek Philippe Certificate of Origin and Extract from the Archives confirming production of the present watch in 1990 and its subsequent sale on 11 January 1991. It has never been offered at auction before.
Manufacture of reference 3979, the legitimate successor of ref. 2524/1, was launched in 1989 with movement number 1'904'000. The model was mostly made in yellow gold and is not in production anymore.
The ingenious caliber R 27 PS impresses not only by its remarkable number of 342 parts but also by Patek Philippe's masterly performance of combining a micro-rotor and a minute repeating mechanism in a proportionally small 12 1/2''' movement.
The model is illustrated in Patek Philippe Wristwatches by Martin Huber & Alan Banbery, second edition, p. 320.
