Accompanied by Patek Philippe Extract from the Archives confirming production of the present watch with silvered dial, raised steel indexes and tachymetre scale in 1946 and its subsequent sale on 17 March 1947.
Reference 1463 was launched in 1940 and remained in production until 1965. The majority was cased in yellow gold; examples in stainless steel are exceedingly rare. According to research, less than 15 examples of a reference 1463 in stainless steel fitted with a two-tone silvered dial have been offered in public. The present watch is furthermore the only reference 1463 in stainless steel with the attractive retailer's signature Gübelin, two-tone silvered dial and applied baton and Arabic numerals known to date.
Its desirability resides in the exclusive combination of the stainless steel case, the highly attractive two-tone silvered dial and retailer's signature, further enhanced by the original condition and freshness to the market as it has never been offered at auction before.
The model is illustrated in Patek Philippe Wristwatches by Martin Huber & Alan Banbery, second edition, p. 267.
