This watch is accompanied by a Patek Philippe Extrait des Archives confirming production of this watch in 1962 and its subsequent sale on 6 July of that year.
This watch is one of only two known examples of this model, reference 3422, to be produced in pink gold.
In the early 1960s Patek Philippe teamed up with Gilbert Albert, a young jewelry designer based in Geneva, to produce a series of unusual wristwatches. Albert designed some of the most daring and unconventional cases that Patek Philippe would ever put into production. His assymetrical designs are considered as cutting-edge today as they were 40 years ago. For another example of a Gilbert Albert case, see lot 126 in this sale.
