Accompanied by Patek Philippe Extract from the Archives confirming the production of the present watch with diamond-set dial in 1955 and its subsequent sale on 10 September 1955.
Examples of reference 2526 in platinum are exceedingly rare; it is thought that less than 20 examples in platinum have appeared in public. Only very few pieces were fitted with diamond indexes on the silvered matt dial.
The rarity of the present watch is further enhanced by the retailer's initials S.&L. for Serpico y Laino, Patek Philippe's retailer in Caracas, Venezuela, stamped on the case back as well as on the clasp of the platinum bracelet.
Although the watch was originally entered in Patek Philippe's archives to have left the manufactury with a leather strap, the present bracelet is from the same period and is most certainly original to this watch, added by Serpico y Laino upon request from the original owner at the date of purchase.
Other examples of reference 2526 are illustrated in Patek Philippe Wristwatches by Martin Huber & Alan Banbery, 1st edition pp. 168-169, 2nd edition pp. 213, 216-217.
