PATMORE, COVENTRY. Odes. [London: Savill, Edwards and Co., Printers 1868]. 8vo, original printed pale greenish-blue wrappers, spine worn, cloth slipcase. FIRST EDITION, SIEGFRIED SASSON'S COPY with the author's name ("Coventry Patmore") written in pencil by him on the front cover (the pamphlet was issued anonymously). Hayward 264 (quoting John Drinkwater's note in his copy): "'The first appearance of some of...Patmore's most important work. Only 250 copies were [privately] printed, of which Patmore, having sent some out privately, destroyed over a hundred of the remainder.'"
