Lot Essay

In 59 photographs Paul Huf portrays the painter Vincent van Gogh in images of objects and locations we regognize from Van Gogh's oeuvre. Sunflowers, Nuenen, the institute in Saint Rémy and the small wooden bridge are all included. This series of photographs by wellknown Dutch fashion photographer Paul Huf was published in an edition of eight for the purpose of travelling exhibitions. These exhibitions took place in various capital cities over the world on the occasion of the Van Gogh commemoration in 1990. The assignment for this series was given by the KLM, the Dutch Royal Air Company. Anno 2004 at least one set of this series is still in Dutch hands. It has not been seen at auction previously.
