(The loosely inserted folding map washed and neatly repaired, without ?blanks 4 and 5N4, first and last three leaves and seven other leaves repaired, the title and frontispiece with additional old repairs to blank margins, small tears to a number of leaves, small hole in 4G1 with loss of a few characters.) 19th-century roan-backed marbled boards (spine worn). AUTHOR'S PRESENTATION COPY OF THE FIRST EDITION of "one of the most notable works to have been printed in the Philippines" (Retana), rare with both the plate and map. It is a continuation of Francisco Colin's Labor Evangelica published in Madrid in 1663 (hence segunda parte). The fine map is a reduced copy of Murillo's map (originally published in 1734). The engravers Bagay and Atlas, both Tagalog, were well regarded, Bagay in particular being considered the outstanding engraver of his generation. Palau 186215; Retana 285; Sabin 51449.
