PORCACCHI, TOMMASO. L'Isole piu famose del Mondo. Venice: Simon Galignani and Girolamo Porro 1576 [colophon: appresso Giorgio Angelieri 1575]. Folio, 300 x 210 mm. (11 13/16 x 8¼ in.), modern morocco gilt in the style of a sixteenth-century entrelac binding, title-leaf soiled, corners of first few leaves bent, without final blank leaf R6, occasional marginal finger-soiling and light marginal foxing, some slight showthrough from engravings. Second edition, engraved architectural title, 47 engraved maps in the text (most approx. 110 x 150 mm.), by Girolamo Porro, mainly of islands and coastal areas but including a view-plan of Venice and 2 world maps, woodcut head- and tail-pieces and ornamental initials, Galignani's large woodcut device on colophon page. This second edition contains 17 more maps than the first edition, published in 1572, including 2 of the 8 maps relating to the Americas, showing Jamaica and "San Giovanni detta Borichen", i.e., Puerto Rico.
