8° (189 x 128mm). Cancellans title with woodcut publisher's device, one-page publisher's advertisement bound in at end. Original wrappers [printed by The Chiswick Press], upper wrapper with cubist design after Dorothy Shakespear Pound (a little spotted and with minor chips and tears at extremities).
FIRST EDITION, FOURTH ISSUE, THE FIRST WITH WRAPPERS DESIGNED BY DOROTHY SHAKESPEAR POUND, ONE OF 400 COPIES. SIGNED BY POUND 'Ezra Pound , 3 July 1929' on the front free endpaper. Ripostes was originally published by Stephen Swift and Co., Ltd, in October 1912; however, Swift went bankrupt in November of that year, and the bound copies and sheets of the works were taken over by Elkin Mathews. The remaining sheets were issued in 1913 by Elkin Mathews with Canzoni, then as the American edition in 1913 by Small, Maynard and Company with a cancellans title, and finally in this edition, with the addition of a cancellans title, a publisher's advertisement, and wrappers designed by Pound's wife.
