Engraved approbation supplied from the second edition of 1735, 28 engraved plates by Toms, woodcut headpieces, tailpieces and initials (some mainly marginal spotting.) Contemporary calf (rebacked, corner and edge repairs). Provenance: armorial bookplate with the motto "Clariores et Tenebris".
FIRST EDITION 'of the first comprehensive work on carpentry in English and the standard one for the remainder of the century' (Harris p.374). Harris 707; RIBA 2615 (note).
