Private John Foster Nash enlisted at Kamloops, British Columbia, on 8.2.1900 and served in 'C' Squadron of Lord Strathcona's Horse. He was discharged on 16.3.1901 (Canadian public archives refer).
Members of Lord Strathcona's Horse were presented with their Medals by King Edward at Buckingham Palace on 13.2.1902 on their way back to Canada. Nominal rolls of these legendary Canadian volunteers were presented at the War Office three days before the presentation and the Medals named in a hurry. The erroneous dates '1899-1900' were erased off the reverses of the Medals but a few slipped through the net and were issued thus. Of these, less than 30 are known today.
