This interesting Qur'an section in a contemporary brown morocco binding which may be original. The front board has a tooled design of eight-pointed stars with intersecting crosses, very like the tile panels to be found in numerous dado design in Iran. The section that would have been covered by the flap is of the same piece of leather but is tooled with a different design, suggesting that the flap, which would have gone over the front board, rather than tucking inside it, also had the tile panel design. The back board is of a different design with a central roundel, but has similar minor borders. The binding retains its original clasp.
