CHINE, EPOQUE TRANSITION, XVIIEME SIECLE
The domed cover is finely painted in cobalt of sapphire-blue tones depicting a garden scene with a seated scholar holding a fan and watching two boys at play beside rocks and willow branches, encircled by a band of five further figures in a landscape scene. The side of the box is decorated with various flowers and foliage.
