A 13.3/8-inch (34cm.) diameter celestial table globe made up of twelve chromolithographed gores and two polar calottes, the equatorial graduated in degrees, the solstitial and equinoctial colures ungraduated, the ecliptic graduated in days of the houses of the Zodiac with symbols, the constellations shown in faint grey outline in the form of mythical beasts, figures and scientific instruments and labelled in Latin, some with a faint beige outline, the stars shown to various orders of magnitude and connected within the constellations by hand-coloured brown lines, labelled with Greek and Roman characters (some areas of slight discolouration, and two long but neatly repaired cracks) with two stamped brass hour dials and a meridian circle, the octagonal ebonised horizon with decorative colour printed paper ring with pictorial depictions of the houses of the Zodiac, and decorative figures at the corners, also graduated in degrees and days of the month and showing wind directions, raised on two curved quadrant supports to short turned and ebonised column with three cabriole legs united by thin turned stretchers to central compass mount with brass-cased compass with steel needle -- 26in.(67.3cm.) high
