FIRST EDITION of a medical study on public health, highlighting the importance of hygiene in preventing or limiting the spread of disease, written by a noted Portuguese Jewish doctor, who had served as physician at the Imperial Russian court. He also discusses climate (particularly of Brazil and Africa) and earthquakes.
