ROOSEVELT, Franklin D. Portrait of the President and First Lady, by the Associated Press, at Hyde Park, Christmas 1941. 8 x 9/3/4 in., a black and white photograph, unframed, matted. A well-known image of FDR and Eleanor, with carefully ink caption "Christmas 1941," depicting them in a relaxed mood, seated at a table, Eleanor knitting and the President reading a book. SIGNED IN INK BY THE PRESIDENT: "Franklin D. Roosevelt" in the white area of the table. An image widely circulated in the weeks following the shock of America's sudden entry into World War II.
