ROSSETTI, Christina (1830-94). Goblin Market. London: Macmillan, 1893. Tall 12°, decorative title, plates and illustrations by Laurence Housman. Original green cloth gilt (one corner bumped, slight rubbing to spine). ASSOCIATION COPY, front blank inscribed in Hueffer's hand, "Ford & Elsie Hueffer Xmas 1897".
Christina Rossetti's verse fairy tale was first published in 1862 with two designs by her brother, Dante Gabriel Rossetti. However, it became better known through the grotesque qualities of Housman's dark and hallucinatory designs.
