RUPERTUS, Abbot of Deutz (c.1075/80-1129/30). Commentariorum in Apocalypsim Iohannis, Cologne: Johannes Soter for Arnold Birckman, 1533. 2° (316 x 204mm). Woodcut publisher's device on title, woodcut historiated initials, Roman type, printed shoulder notes. (Small holes in title just affecting one letter, small wormholes in final quire, some light browning). Contemporary German calf over wooden boards tooled dos-a-dos, double border of ropework stamp, lozenges filled with gothic 'm' [tools not in Kyriss or Schwenke-Sammlung]. (Restored, fore-edge clasps renewed), chain staple at top of rear boards with 3 chain links, shelfmark 'D 16' on fore-edge.
CHAINED BINDING, containing Rupert of Deutz's commentary of the Apocalypse of St. John. Not in Adams; not in BL STC German.
