The first Jewish sermons, preached in London, to be printed. Preached, in Portuguese, at Creechurch Lane Synagogue. Da Silva was appointed Haham in 1670. His sermons contain valuable material for the social history of the Jews of London. Da Silva was a pupil of Haham Isaac Aboab da Fonseca, the first rabbi to serve on the American continent, whose sermon preached at the funeral service of Da Silva is included in this publication. He also composed the epitaph to his former pupil, whom "God gathered unto Him on the Sabbath", the 29th April, 1679.
