Provenance: Sir Ernest Henry Shackleton (1874-1922), and thence by descent.
An important early miniature recalling Sub. Lieut. Shackleton's part in Scott's 'British Antarctic Expedition' of 1902-1904. Shackleton was later awarded two further bars, 1907-09 and 1914-16.
