Aberdeen, no. 70 (according to a label on the reverse).
This portrait would appear to date to the late 1640s or early 1650s on stylistic grounds. The composition owes a clear debt to van Dyck.
No VAT will be charged on the hammer price, but VAT at 17.5% will be added to the buyer's premium which is invoiced on a VAT inclusive basis.
