Together 4 volumes, large 4 (381 x 282mm). Uniform contemporary green half-morocco gilt, spine in six compartments with raised bands, lettered in the second and third, the others with repeat pattern composed of various small tools, t.e.g., by Bain of London (light scuffing to extremities).
A fine copy of the second edition (limited to 1000 copies) together with the rare supplement. The work was originally issued in 1872-3 with 35 plates, the present set with 60 coloured plates by John Gerrard Keulemans and revised nomenclature is probably more desirable.
