Lady Struth, in brown velvet dress with lace underdress, yellow shawl draped over her left shoulder and right arm, gem-set necklace worn across her chest and pinned to gem-set pendant brooch at corsage, matching gem-set bracelets and drop earrings, silver-embroidered greeny-brown turban adorned with large plume in her curled brown hair; pillar and draped green curtain background
signed and dated on the obverse 'Newton 1820.' (lower right) and signed, dated and inscribed in full on the backing-paper 'Portrait of Lady Struth Wm. J. Newton. Pinxit. 8 Argyll St. 1820'
