Lot Essay

This early model by Reid Dick, which is also known variously as Boy with a Sling or The Catapult Boy, was probably inspired by Gilbert's Perseus Arming, and like Gilbert before him, he cast the work in two different sizes. It was to remain one of his most enduringly popular works.

We are grateful to Peyton Skipwith at The Fine Art Society for his help in preparing this entry.
