Full-page Aldine device on one leaf (some light staining). 19th-century calf ruled in gilt (spine faded, edges gauffered and gilt). Provenance: HENRY WALPOLE and Henry Tolley (armorial bookplates) -- loosely-inserted modern 2-page autograph letter relating to the book's issue points. Adams S-1670; Renouard p.35. First Aldine edition with the second state of the Aldine device.
