FIRST EDITION, PRESENTATION COPY inscribed by Steinbeck on the front endpaper: "For Dorothy with the hope that she will find one a little smaller and more negotiable John Steinbeck." Below the inscription Steinbeck has drawn a winged pig, which he referred to as a "Pigasus." Goldstone & Payne A25a.
