Please note that this tapestry was exhibited at the Stuart Davis Memorial Exhibition, 28 May 1965 - 5 December 1965 held at the Smithsonian, Washington D.C., the Art Institute of Chicago, the Whitney Museum, New York and at the University of California, Los Angeles.
Christie's is honored to be offering selections from the Seagram corporate collection in a series of sales begun this spring, continuing this summer into early fall.
The print collection, like the other groups of art in The Seagram Collection, was created to surround the employees with the same standard of excellence on the walls as the famous building designed by Mies van der Rohe and Philip Johnson.
The wide-ranging artists and styles provide a slice of printmaking history from the 20th Century with emphasis on the 1950s-1970s.
We would like to take this opportunity to acknowledge and thank Carla Caccamise Ash, long-time curator of The Seagram Collection, for her invaluable assistance.
