A LOUIS XV FOUR-COLOUR GOLD SNUFF-BOX
STRASBURG, 1757, ATTRIBUTED TO JEAN-FREDERIC BUTTNER
Rectangular, the cover, four sides and base chased with antique ruins and landscapes within burnished rococo cartouches, marked on cover and body, maker's mark apparently lacking
Jean-Fréderic I Büttner became master in Strasburg in 1746. His workshop was located at rue des Hallebardes. He was later appointed Court Goldsmith to Stanislas Leczcinski of Lorraine.
