FIRST EDITION OF THE MOST RENOWNED VENETIAN ILLUSTRATED BOOK OF THE 18TH CENTURY. Each of the introductory plates to the cantos has a separate engraved border, and is captioned with the names and arms of its sponsor; in the second edition, the names were replaced with verses from the poem. This appears to have been a publisher's binding, intended for subscribers who could then add their own arms. Gamba p. 285; Morazzoni p. 256; Cohen-de Ricci 978.
