This contract was for The Beatles' second engagement in the south of England (the first, a date in Aldershot organised by Liverpool promoter, Sam Leach, was a complete fiasco). Significantly, this was also The Beatles' first engagement in the South under Brian Epstein's management.
The vendor of this lot, Jack Fallon, owned Cana Variety Agency and, with Bill Fraser Reid, also ran Jaybee clubs which at this time promoted dances predominantly in the western counties. The Beatles went on to play three other Jaybee venues in Swindon, Lydney and Salisbury. Jack Fallon also played violin on the White Album on Don't Pass Me By!
