"This work had a long life, new editions constantly appearing as the work was revised and brought up to date; sometimes the plates were altered, sometimes entirely new plates engraved. The work started with Seller, then passed to Thornton and Mount, then Mount and Page, and the late issues to Mount and Davidson. No library has anything like a complete set, and most of the volume are rare" (Tooley Maps and Map-Makers pp. 60). Therefore, this lot is sold not subject to return.
