Art by Anselmo Ballester (1897-1974).
One of two known copies in this size.
Like almost all of Italy during the 1940s Anselmo Ballester seems to have been having a love affair with Rita Hayworth. As the main artist for Columbia Studios enabled him to design posters for all of her films. Ballester designs for Italian posters of Hayworth films are amongst the most sought after, they are always the best designed posters from any country for her films as is the case with The Lady From Shanghai and Salome (lot 289).
