Supporting her son's dead body, resting her face on his shoulder, her maroon maphorion with delicate gilt patterns, the icon covered in a silver-gilt oklad with cloisonné enamelled haloes in green, white, navy and blue scrolling foliage, the cross in Christ's halo decorated with blue dots, both bearing a blue bead and wirework border, the frame of the oklad decorated with foliate scrolls
