    Lot Essay

Roger Furse produced the costumes for Terence Rattigan's play The Sleeping Prince, directed by Laurence Olivier who also played The Grand Duke of Carpathia with Vivien Leigh, Martita Hund, Richard Wattis and Jeremy Spencer, The Phoenix, London, 1953. Furse was also responsible for the design in the film adaptation of Rattigan's play The Prince And The Showgirl which Olivier again produced, directed and played in the title role in 1956. The date on this design suggests that it was done for the film and the characters named on it were either uncredited walk-ons or dropped from the final version.
