Each painted to the exterior with a lotus scroll between a scrolling border below the rim and ruyi lappets around the straight foot

Kwan discusses the dated bowl included in this lot in op cit., p. 34, explaining that it is a sample submitted for approval by the Imperial Kiln before completion of an order from the Department of Works in Beijing.
