INDENTMajor Arthur Hughes, born 1876 at Liverpool, the son of Sir Thomas Hughes, J.P., was educated at Parkfield School and gazetted 2nd Lieutenant 4th Bn. Liverpool Regiment March 1900 and was finally advanced to Major 7th Bn. July 1914. Major Hughes was killed 16 May 1915, after the capture of three lines of enemy trenches by his Battalion in the Battle of Festubert, and is buried in the Guards Cemetery, Cuinchy.
Captain E.V.Hughes served with the 2/6th Bn. King's Liverpool Regiment from 23 November 1914 and transferred to the 1/6th Bn. 11 July 1915.
