Lot Essay

In 1979, the Bakerloo line interchange at Charing Cross was opened and the newly built Fleet line started running the same year. Trafalgar Square station was no longer needed as the distance from Charing cross was just feet away. The Fleet Line was quickly renamed the Jubilee Line and this, too, has been re-routed in recent years so it bypasses Charing Cross altogther.
