We are grateful to Andrea De Marchi for identifying the present lot as being by Antonio Rosso da Cadore, and for providing the following additional information. Snr. De Marchi points out that the present panels formed part of a larger set which relate to a larger 'Madonna and Child' in the Frederick Mont collection, New York.
The Provenance should read: Henry Harris collection, London 1948:
Anon. sale, Sotheby's, London, 25th October, 1950, Lot 195 (as Girolamo da Cremona).
