INDENTSecond Lieutenant Edward Staveley Taylor of Great Crosby, Liverpool, educated at Sedbergh School, joined the Territorial Force 1913, went to France with his Regiment Feburary 1915 and was commissioned to the 7th Bn. King's Liverpool Regiment six months later; he died 19 August 1916 from wounds received on the 9th at the Battle of Guillemont and was buried in the Corbie Communal Cemetery Extension, France.
1718 Private Sydney Roberts, born Athlone, Ireland, lived in Seaforth, enlisted at Crosby, Liverpool, was promoted Lance Corporal the day before he was killed in action at the Battle of Festubert 16 May 1915; he is commemorated on the Le Touret Memorial, France.
Second Lieutenant Reginald Leak of Anfield, Liverpool, joined the 5th Bn. Liverpools and was commissioned 2nd Lieutenant 8 July 1915; he embarked for France attached to the 11th Bn. 19 April 1916. On the 14th July 1916 at Bazentin le Grand on the Somme "...He had reached the second enemy trench when he was hit by a sniper..." (Liverpool's Scroll of Fame refers)
