CIRCA 1745, BLUE CROSSED SWORDS MARKS TO SIDES OF BASES
Seated on their haunches to the left and right with their heads turned, with white chests and pale-brown coats with irregular black patches and spots, each with a forepaw slightly raised, one resting on a coloured rock, one with its jaws open, on oval mound bases applied with foliage and a flower, one with a green wash (one with a restored crack through lower part of body, tail and base, other with chip and minute chipping to underside edge of base, both with restoration to ears)

Lot Essay

A similar pair of leopards were sold in these Rooms on 7th October 1996, lot 421. A pair are illustrated by Rainer Rückert, Meissener Porzellan (Munich, 1966), nos. 1055 and 1056. Examples from the Emma Budge Collection were sold by Paul Graupe, Berlin, on 27th-29th September 1937, lot 760.
