FIRST EDITION, No. 188 of 500 copies. Motor Yacht 'Ara' was a 213 ft. Camper and Nicholson design luxuriously converted for Vanderbilt and sailed for him and his seven guests by a crew of sixty-six on a scientific pleasure cruise to collect exotic marine life for the Vanderbilt Maritime Museum.

Motor Yacht 'Alva,' a Cox and Stevens design was built in Kiel 1930, at 259 ft. for Vanderbilt, 5 guests and 50 crew, sailing mainly through equatorial waters. (3)
